It’s my second blogiversary!

One day in the past I opened a new blog on WordPress and decided that I would write about books. Back then it used to have a different URL and had a weird pink and green theme many of you wouldn’t remember. It’s a lot different now than how it started out, but now my site is TWO YEARS OLD!!

This is kind of like a recap for the past two years because I didn’t really have a post for my one-year blog anniversary, but I’d like to give every one of you a huge THANK YOU for sticking with me for the past two years!!

This blog was a kind of refuge for me throughout the pandemic lockdown and more than often the only people I talked to outside of my family were my fellow bloggers on this site.

Special shoutout to Saniya, my very first follower, who followed this blog when I had months of zero engagement and I was thinking about deleting it, you GREATLY encouraged me to be brave and actually talk with people out here and make my first steps into blogging // ♡ Naemi, who’s been here since the very beginning you have no idea how much of much of a support you are! // ♡ Nehal, I always love talking with you (crazy quote battles and all) // ♡ Ahaana, your posts are so good to read and your enthusiasm is infectious! // ♡ Cherelle, you’ve got the most stunning blog // ♡ Cherry, you’ve introduced me to some of my now favourite books // ♡ Ritz and Susana, I hope you are well even though you aren’t active on your blogs! // ♡ Riddhi, you’re one of the most dedicated bloggers I’ve ever met and your posts are so fun // ♡ Anoushka, all of your posts are a joy to read! // ♡ Saima and Madeline and Kaya, who’ve got the best reading taste // ♡ Phoenix, I adore all your discussion posts! // ♡ Suhani, your comments always bring a smile to my face!

These are just a few of the few hundred amazing people I’ve met on my blogging journey, there wouldn’t be any space left here if I were to mention them all, but y’all are really the reason I’ve come this far on this site!

I’m quite proud of this post. It’s something I wrote after a lot of research and following patterns and it got a LOT of engagement I was not expecting.

Reflections

Blogging has been one of the few good decisions I took in the past few years. I’ve discovered heaps upon heaps of new books I wouldn’t have been able to know if I wasn’t in the book blogger community. It was so wonderful to discover you can gush about books with people who are equally obsessed with books as I was.

Also, through book blogging I got to know more people in the queer community, and also grew to be more comfortable with myself! (Honestly, just having conversations with other queer people makes me so happy.)

My reading taste has changed, a LOT. From reading sorely classics and the occasional famous YA book by a white author, I’ve started to read more diversely now. And I’ve shifted from middle grade to young adult and now I’m slowly getting into reading adult books as well.

I’ve picked up a few graphic designing skills along the way (though I still can’t seem to make up my mind about how my blog should look like) and I’ve gotten the hang of writing reviews, finishing books in three hours or savouring them over a month.
