Hello people! I was nominated for the Sunshine blogger award a while back – a long time back in fact. Big thanks to Brooke @ The Reader’s Game, M @ Inking and Thinking and Lotus @ Pages of Starlight for nominating me for this award, it means a lot to me!

On with the tag, I have so many questions to answer!

Brooke’s questions

🔸 WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WISH EVERY BOOK HAD?

A good ending. It doesn’t have to be a happy one, but lacklustre endings totally kill my mood.

🔸 WHAT ARE ONE OR TWO THINGS YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO?

Travel abroad! I love travelling and have almost gone everywhere in my country but I’ve never gone abroad. And second is to learn how to swim.

🔸DO YOU PREFER HARDBACK, PAPERBACK, EBOOKS, OR AUDIOBOOKS?

I’ve never read an audio book?? Paperbacks are expensive enough that I’ve never even checked the price of a hardcover book. Ebooks are convenient, but I’m going with paperbacks for this one.

🔸 WHAT WERE SOME BOOKISH AND NON-BOOKISH HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020?

Bookish – definitely not a highlight, but I was in a slump for most of the year. Non bookish – I gave a speech in front of a large audience for the first time in my life and it left me feeling like I’d run a mile! Somehow, giving a speech is so much difficult than acting.

🔸 WHAT IS ONE FOOD THAT YOU LOVE AND ONE FOOD YOU WANT TO NEVER EAT (OR SMELL) EVER AGAIN?

A food that I love – my mum’s biriyani, she mixes all the spices in the world into it and it tastes so good. A food I hate – durian. I’ve never eaten it and I’d rather not try. My sisters love it but the smell – urgh.

🔸WHAT YOU LOVE ABOUT SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE BOOKS?

They are very relatable. The characters are badass. The setting is awesome. The writing is beautiful. A lot depends on the last one.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE/SHOW TROPE?

Chaotic families/found families and friends/lovers to enemies.

🔸WHAT IS A BOOK OR SERIES THAT WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT MOVIE OR TV SHOW?

Can we have a The Henna Wars movie? Please? I love that book so much. And read the book, people. I promise you won’t regret it 😉

🔸WOULD YOU RATHER LIVE IN A VERY HUMID OR VERY DRY CLIMATE?

Can I say neither? Over here it’s very humid when it rains and very dry when it doesn’t, and it seems like there’s no in between.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STYLE/GENRE OF MUSIC?

I don’t know. I just listen to whatever turns up on the radio and it’s a mix haha.

🔸WHAT TYPE OF MOVIE/TV SHOW IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Like songs, my movie taste is all over the place. I’ll watch anything except heavy biographies – and I’ve liked those too. Have you watched Hidden Figures?

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF FOOD?

Pancakes. To be more specific, my version of pancakes – with coconut milk and a tinge of turmeric and too many eggs.

🔸DO YOU BELIEVE IN HOROSCOPES AND ZODIACS?

Nope, although I do have a zodiac sign and probably also a horoscope tucked away somewhere.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK TROPE?

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO OUTSIDE?

Just stand and feel the wind on my face and quietly watch around. It feels heavenly, I tell ya. Oh, and also photography. And birdwatching.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF MUSIC?

All kinds I guess?

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW?

Avatar the Last Airbender, The Mandalorian and Shadow and Bone. You will not ask me to choose.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

Little Women, the 2019 version.

🔸WHAT QUALITY IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU THAT A PERSON SHOULD HAVE?

Wow this might be the hardest question in today’s post. Perhaps sincerity and being genuine. And kindness.

🔸WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DRINK?

Really creamy, thick hot chocolate.

🔸DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?

I’d say no but I know a person who has dealt with possessed people so…I don’t know.

🔸WHAT FICTIONAL WORLD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT THE MOST?

Middle Earth! The shire, specifically. That place looks so homey.

🔸WHAT WAS YOUR LAST 5 STAR READ?

Loveless by Alice Oseman. I reviewed it too!

🔸WHAT BOOK DO YOU THINK WOULD MAKE A REALLY COOL MOVIE OR TV SHOW ADAPTION?

I said above that I’d love it if The Henna Wars was adapted, and I’m adding These Violent Delights to that list as well.

🔸WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SEASON?

We’ve got the monsoon season and the dry season here haha but if I’m choosing I’ll say autumn.

🔸 WHAT’S A TV SHOW YOU’RE CURRENTLY BINGING? (OR IF YOU’RE NOT, A TV SHOW YOU LOVE)

🔸WHAT’S ONE OF YOUR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RELEASES FOR THE REST OF 2021?

Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong. And it’s coming out in November. *sniffs*

🔸WHAT MYTHICAL ANIMAL DO YOU WISH WAS REAL?

Because dragons will cause too much collateral damage, I’m going with unicorns.

🔸IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY ANIMAL FOR A PET, WILD OR TAME, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

This is a no brainer: cats. In fact, my mother cat gave birth to another three kittens two days ago. So now there’s five cats in total, and if we aren’t careful we’ll soon be overrun with cats 😅

🔸WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SONG AT THE MOMENT?

Not a song but I recently listened to the entirety of Nanda Malini’s Pavana album on YouTube and I love it so much. Just the satire is off the charts!

🔸WHAT LANGUAGE HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN TO SPEAK?

I have a complex relationship with languages. I generally dislike reading Sinhala and I suck at speaking conversational English, my Tamil is abysmal and I quit French halfway through. Although if I have time , I would like to continue learning French.

🔸WHAT IS A TROPE THAT YOU LOVE AND A TROPE THAT YOU HATE?

A trope I love – see above. A trope I hate – there are many obvious ones (instalove etc) but I’ll also add enemies to lovers, when the ‘enemies’ part is only 0.1% of the time. Basically instalove, yeah.
