Movies I watched in March + mini reviews!

I watched five movies in March. I usually just include them in my wrap up but these were just so good I thought of making a post of my own for them. So what did I watch?

Pride and Prejudice (2005)

This was a rewatch, and I enjoyed it just the same the second time around! The story is such a classic and I’ll never stop saying that I’ll read the book again one day (even though I don’t have time and I was so bored the first time I read itπŸ˜…) But I hafta say that out of the five this was sort of the least memorable. Still 100% recommend, though!

Raya and the Last Dragon

Wonderful story, beautiful animation, badass heroine, equally badass antagonist, South East Asian rep!!!!

If that isn’t enough reason to watch this movie, I don’t know what is. I enjoyed every second of it. I loved how they played on trust as a theme and showed that not trusting each other enough leads to divisions. It’s also a lot darker and heavier than most Disney movies, but I count that as a plus! My only (very minor) complaint is that the humour feels a little too American. But the good far outweighs the bad here!

Also, I tried my hand at drawing Sisu:

Space Sweepers

I saw Katie mentioning that this was good in her wrap up post so I decided to give it a try. And I liked it so much!!! Sure, it was sort of cheesy, and the first part of the movie felt a bit draggy, but it had amazing banter and relationships. And I loved its (not so subtle) commentary on climate change, money and privilege. And gosh that kid in the film is so cute!

Wolfwalkers

You’re missing out on a lot if you missed this amazing film. Maybe it was because I was in a bad mood before watching this that I didn’t enjoy Wolfwalkers as much as I thought I would. The story is about an English girl who befriends a ‘Wolfwalker’ named Mebh in a forest of Ireland, which the English colonizers are in the process of cutting down. This film celebrates nature and freedom while touching on serious topics like colonisation.

I said Raya and the Last Dragon’s animation was gorgeous? Wolfwalkers beats that by a mile. I know CGI is nice but there’s something so…beautiful about hand drawn animation. And Wolfwalkers simply felt like a moving painting. So pretty.

Little Women (2019)

Dare I say this is my new most favourite film of all time? Yes I do! (Sorry, Lord of the Rings). I loved just about everything about this, and I’m pretty sure I won’t get tired of this even if I rewatch it a hundred times. I dnf’ed Little Women (the book) because I found the story so hard to get into, but the film was fantastic. The sisterly dynamic? So relatable, coming from a person whose siblings are two sisters who couldn’t be more different from each other and myself. I loved loved loved how every sister had different interests and ambitions. I loved the feminist undertones. I loved Jo and Meg and Amy and Beth and Marmee and Laurie.

I’m also adding some deeply relatable quotes that I felt so much out of the film:

“Just because my dreams are different doesn’t mean they’re unimportant”

“I’m so sick of people saying that love is all a woman is fit for”

All my life I’ve been second to my sister gosh I hear you Amy

Have you watched any of these movies? Or are you planning to watch them? If you have watched, what is your favourite among them?

  1. I can’t wait to see Raya, I’m beyond excited for it! πŸ€— And I’m glad to see you loved Pride and Prejudice and Little Women! Although I actually think the other Pride and Prejudice version (with Colin Firth) is even better than this one!

    1. I hope you enjoy it!! Haha yes I loved them!!! I’ll try the other P&P adaptation one day and I want to try the one with the zombies too (I’m so curious to see how they actually put zombies in a classic adaptationπŸ˜…)

      1. I’ve never seen the zombie adaptation either, so I might have to try that one eventually, too 😁 I’m a bit skeptical though, because I have yet to see a zombie movie I actually like πŸ˜…

  3. I appreciate these kinds of posts because I solely rely on movie recommendations by other bloggers (and my BFF). I have never been -or tried- to be in sync with Hollywood gossip and releases. That’s ironic as I find myself knowing all new Bollywood releases without any efforts. I think I’m going to try Space Sweepers. Little Women movie was lovely and so much better than the book. Not to mention the fact that Emma Watson was in it and most readers, well at least me, are bias towards her because she was Hermione Granger.
